Rhythm. When you hear the word, you probably think about your weird Uncle’s lack of it when he tries to dance at the family reunion, or your neighbor’s obsession with it when he’s banging on his drum kit at 3 AM. You probably don’t associate rhythm with shooting a basketball, though – but you should.
Rhythm is the secret sauce of successful shooting. It’s the magic quality that lets one guy with pretty good form make 8 threes a game while another guy with picture-perfect form clanks yet another shot off the side of the backboard.
Good shooters have good shooting rhythm. Period. End of story. No exceptions. So, if you want to be a good shooter, you’ll have to learn rhythm, too. And that’s what we’ll be discussing here today.
